Lesson 8: Publishing and Wrap-Up

AI Assistants
Code Assistants
Video Games

This game is fun!  Given hours and days of more work I could take it up a notch, but as far as something I can accomplish during a lunch break, this feels awesome.  It's all running on the web, too, so it should be easy to publish and share without any special downloads or setup.  I click the title box in the top left of the editor to set the name, description, and thumbnail for the project, then click Publish.

View Project Page will take me to a larger public view without the editor UI: perfect for sharing.  All I have to do is copy and send the URL of the project and a friend or family member can play my game.  Piece of cake!

All in all, that was a chill coding experience.  Every moment presented an opportunity to dig beneath the surface and examine the ins-and-outs of how coding works, but at the same time, I was also able to follow my intuition and go back-and-forth with the Jippity AI in plain language.

This is the magic of AI — it can act as a technical and rigorous assistant or a gentle and patient guide.  As a parent, this appeals to me because my expertise is full of holes.  I do know something about coding and I'll be able to guide my daughter through her coding journey, but for moments when I can't be there, I know she'll have a fun and painless experience with Jippity that still boosts her skills and immerses her in professional-level code.  But if she wants to learn about how Group 17 of the periodic table — the halogens — react, my usefulness will expire faster than you can say "Bromine."  We can have fun poking around ChatGPT together, but what I really want is a tool I can trust — a kid-friendly Chemistry buddy that I don't need to moderate or audit.

Jippity gets this right for coding and game development.  I look forward to discovering comparable tools in other domains.  We are at the precipice of a renaissance of creativity and expertise, not without risks and challenges, but too exciting to pass up.
